Why I Don’t Call This a Diet Anymore
From plant-based and burned out to nourished, grounded, and free.
I used to call it a diet. I don’t anymore.
Because it’s not.
Not in the way “diet” is usually understood: a temporary fix, a weight loss plan, a willpower battle, a way to control your cravings or punish your body into submission.
What I live and teach now is something deeper, more honest. It’s not about discipline. It’s about truth. Not about rules. About remembrance. It’s not a diet. It’s a return to a way of eating that makes you feel whole again.
For over a decade, I did it the modern way: green smoothies, superfood powders, oat milk lattes, calorie trackers, and endless effort to eat “clean.”
I was plant-based, disciplined, praised—and sicker than ever.
Hypothyroidism, NAFLD, anxiety, fatigue, amenorrhea, joint pain, skin flares. I was falling apart while doing everything “right.”
Nothing changed until I stopped fighting my biology.
When I began eating in alignment with my physiology—animal-based, fat-fueled, grounded in ancestral wisdom—I finally healed.
Not overnight. Not linearly. But fully.
And this is why I stopped calling it a diet. Because the word wasn’t big enough to hold the experience. It wasn’t just about the food. It was about everything the food allowed me to feel again:
Peace in my body
Energy in my mornings
Stability in my mind
Freedom from supplements
The end of symptom-chasing
I still follow the Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet (PKD). But after seven years of deep healing, my version has evolved. I now include some vegetables, sometimes berries, and on rare occasions—honey. These are additions my body tolerates well today.
They’re not a departure from the core principles; they’re a reflection of how adaptable the protocol can be when healing has occurred.
I don’t track my food intake anymore. But at the beginning, I did—because it was necessary. In the early phases of healing, structure is powerful. Precision builds trust. But once your body stabilizes, you earn the freedom to relax. You learn to trust yourself again.
Now, I track how I feel. I eat real food, raised right. I move my body with joy. I salt my food to taste. I live in tune with my energy, my breath, my hunger.
I’m not on a diet. I’m on a path.
A client recently told me, “This feels like the first time I’m not afraid of food.” That’s when you know you’re not dieting anymore. That’s when the healing really begins.
Because when food stops being a fight, it starts being medicine.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like you’ve tried everything, I want you to know there is another way. You don’t have to suffer through symptom management for the rest of your life. You don’t have to keep guessing.
You can learn to nourish your body in a way that brings it back into balance—naturally. And you don’t have to do it alone.
